Il mare è un sentimento.
Un’esperienza che veicola sensazioni primordiali che hanno
a che fare con un mondo aurorale, di originaria sostanza
vitalistica.
Il mare è un luogo fatto di acqua e di luce. E da come bat-
te la luce sull’acqua si generano i colori. Infinite sfumature
cangianti: dai toni intensi della profondità alla lieve bian-
chezza dell’onda che si infrange.
È anche spazio concavo degli abissi e convesso dell’onda che
si gonfia e si ritrae.
È movimento continuo, come un tempo musicale ribattuto
la cui intensità dipende dalla profondità dell’acqua, dalla
qualità del fondale, dalle correnti sottomarine, dall’incre-
sparsi della superficie che prepara l’onda.
Timoteo Sceverti è nato a San Benedetto del Tronto in un
luogo che dispone al contatto quotidiano con il mare; ma
questo sarebbe ancora un accidente secondario se al mare
non si rivolgesse come luogo primigenio in cui svolgere la
propria costruzione poetica della forma. O meglio, l’affer-
mazione di un rapporto strutturale tra forma e sensazione
individuale.
Sceverti costruisce figurazioni di un mondo prenatale fatto
di immagini trasparenti, in cui l’occhio è invitato a inabis-
sarsi al di là della massa liquida dell’acqua o a fluttuare
sulle creste di superficie. I colori d’acquamarina sfumano
nell’accecamento meridiano del dio Pan in cui le cose si con-
fondono e si saldano ad una mitologia solare e mediterranea
di serena intensità.
Nei suoi quadri trovi immagini che scivolano via e vanno a
formare un unico grande organismo vivente in cui invano
cercheresti il centro e mai ti perderesti in una periferia.
L’occhio è invitato ad un costante ritorno. Nulla disturba
l’inesausto defluire dello sguardo che segue i movimenti
dell’acqua, ne sente il rumore di risacca, vi cerca refrigerio.

An experience that spreads primordial sensations relating
to early life, of original vitalistic substance.
The sea is a phenomenon consisting of water and light.
Colours are generated by the way the light hits the water.
Infinite iridescent hues: ranging from intense tones of the
deepness to the soft whiteness of the breaking waves.
It also represents the concave space of the depths and the
convex space of swelling and receding waves.
It is continuous motion, like a constant musical beat whose
intensity depends on the depth of water, the quality of the
seabed, the underwater currents and the rippling of the sur-
face that prepares each wave.
Timoteo Sceverti was born in San Benedetto del Tronto in a
setting where daily contact with the sea is natural; but this
would have been incidental if he had not turned to the sea
for inspiration as a primigenial place in which to conduct
his poetic construction of form. Or rather, the achievement
of a structural relationship between individual form and
sensation.
Sceverti creates figurative elements of a prenatal world
made up of clear images, in which your gaze is invited to
sink beyond the liquid mass of the water or to rise and fall
on the crests of the surface. The aquamarine colours fade in
the midday dazzle of the Pan god, in which things become
confused and associated with a sunny and Mediterranean
mythology of serene intensity.
In his paintings you will find images that slip away and go
on to form one large living entity in which you would look
for the centre in vain and yet never become lost on the pe-
riphery.
Your eyes are constantly invited to return. There is nothing
to distract the inexhaustible attention of your gaze that
follows the movements of the water, while listening to the
sound of the backwash, in search of refreshment.
